THIS SESSION IS FOR EYFS TEACHERS AND TAs

Discover how Talk for Stories has developed reading comprehension, oracy and confidence in Reception. In this practical, classroom-focused session, we’ll share how we have embedded Talk for Stories at Scarcroft School—including early immersion and oral rehearsal. You’ll see what this looks like in real lessons, how staff have adapted the approach to suit their classes, and how we’ve built consistency without losing creativity. We’ll explore how we explicitly teach and rehearse Tier 2 and Tier 3 vocabulary through immersion, oral storytelling and structured talk, ensuring pupils confidently use ambitious language in their speaking and writing.
